Vienna, baby.

So I know its been a while, but last week was kindof lazy and I was taking it easy in preparation for....

Party in the V-N-A, baby. (Yea, thats Vienna if you pronounce the A as "uh") Except instead of hopping in a cab at LAX, we hopped on the Gatwick Express at Victoria.

This post might be a bit picture heavy, but bear in mind - I had 250 pics to choose from, so I did my best!

All I can say about our arrival is - SCHNITZEL. Oh my god I ate so much schnitzel I swear my stomach has expanded to twice its size, and now i'm sitting at home with insatiable hunger. bad news bears.

We went to a little bakery called Demel, located right in front of the Hofsburg palace. Apparently its where Empress Sissi got her sugar fix from.

The chocolate was a bit overwhelming, but we got some pretty delicious apple strudel.

Apart from food, we had a really fun time navigating the public transportation system. Its really difficult to remember directions when you legitimately can't even begin to comprehend HOW to pronounce any of the street or station names. Check some out..

Zippererlstrabee? Zieblergasse?

We wandered around for approximately an hour on the first day searching desperately for Judenplatz - supposedly some old excavated synagogue with a museum attached. However, Judenplatz is CLEARLY a myth, as it was impossible to find, so we settled on visiting St. Rupert's cathedral. Funny because none of the viennese people we spoke to had ever heard of this "famous" sight to see..

There's me and and St. Rupert himself. He's definitely checking me out...

Of course, we also visited the most touristy spot in Vienna - St Stephen's cathedral (located at the "stephensplatz" metro stop).

And we even climbed the 343 ridiculously windy steps of the south tower to get a beautiful view of the city.

(resting from all the stair climbing, ayayaya)

Thats me looking at the beautiful view. HAH yea right what a joke - you have to pay for those stupid telescope things, and i am way too cheap for that. clearly.

Other major sights? The Schonbrunn. Another ridiculous palace.

For this one we actually went inside and took a lovely guided tour. Audio-guided. So classy.

Last but certainly not least, we saw Romeo and Julia (the ballet) in the Viennese Opera house! This was pretty bomb. We scalped some super sketch tickets from some guys outside the Opera House for 20 Euros a piece. I may have only been able to see half of the stage, but it was still a pretty cool experience.

There's kate and I in our "Loge" - guess thats what they call a "box".

And pictured above is the really amusing painting that was displayed during intermission. All three figures are naked. The girl on the left has half of her face missing. The man on the right has a plunger for a penis. And i'm not really sure whats going on with the upside down dude in the middle...

Oh! Almost forgot one other cool thing - we went to the butterfly house! It was a greenhouse with a rainforest environment inside and butterflies everywhere. Not gonna lie, it was a little disappointing and the butterflies were scarce, but I did get to hold one.

It's wings were clearly torn and it couldnt fly away, so tourists were just kind of passing it around. Sad, actually.

And of course, we found time to party a bit. Kate and I were too cheap to buy drinks at the places we went, so we split everything. Our fav was definitely a cocktail called "Bloody Delicious."

Bloody delicious.

Okay superbowl time woohoooo.
